The following is a summary of business and financial decisions made by the Board of Directors in 2018.
Janaury 16-17, 2018
BOARD DECISIONS
- The Board approved the 2018 CRA mileage rate increase to $0.49 for SUN members.
- The Board approved “Special Olympics Moose Jaw” as the charity for the 2018 Annual Meeting.
- The Board appointed Tracy Martell from Local 66 to the Extendicare Negotiations Committee.
- The Board appointed Kendra Filteau and Dinys Reed to the All Nations Healing Hospital Negotiations Committee.
FINANCIAL DECISIONS
- The Board approved a $1000 donation to support Women’s March Canada for the Regina and Saskatoon marches Jan 20/18. And an Annual donation of $1000 to be shared between the two locations.

BOARD DECISIONS
- The Board approved the President's vacation for July 23 – August 10, 2018
- The Board approved the merger of Local 260 Prince Albert Mental Health Center with Local 62 Prince Albert Victoria Hospital to become Local 62.3
FINANCIAL DECISIONS
- The Board approved a donation of $1000 to the Unemployed Workers Help Centre.
- The Board accepted the Audited Financial Statements as prepared by MNP for 2017. The Board is pleased to report a clean financial audit.
April 24, 2018 - Pre-Annual Meeting
BOARD DECISIONS
- The Board approved the request to dissolve Local 306 and merge its members in to Locals 35, 202 and 29.
FINANCIAL DECISIONS
- The Board approved a donation of $1000 to support the U of S Regina Campus CNSA chapter members to attend the 2018 Global Association of Students & Novice Nurses Annual Conference in Ireland June 2018.

- The Board approved a donation of $1000 to Camp Fyrefly with a SUN novelty to be included.
- The Board approved the 2018 Community Support Donation for Martensville to the Ranch Ehrlo Society for $14,000
June 13, 2018 - BOD/SDC Meeting
The Board and SDC Chairpersons along with many of SUN’s Employment Relations Officers met together and heard presentations By:
- Donna Trainor, Executive Director, shared information about Transformational Change.
- Amber Alexce, Director of Government Relations, provided the group with an Environmental Scan.
- Donna Trainor shared the 2018-2020 Strategic Plan.
- Aidan Conway, Research and Policy Analyst, shared the SUN Survey and Polling Results.
- Lars Muran, Public Relations Officer, shared SUN’s Mini Documentaries
- Amanda Guthrie the Education and Operations Manager of “Out Saskatoon” gave a presentation of the work their organization.
- Tracy Zambory, President, closed out the day with a State of the Union Discussion
September 11 & 12, 2018
BOARD DECISIONS
- The Board approved the merger of Local 213 – Raymore Silver Heights Special Care Home into Local 85 – Lestock, St. Joseph’s Integrated Care Centre. Local 213 will become Local 85.1
- The Board approved the merger of Local 188 – Kelvington, Kelvindell Lodge Company into Local 19 Kelvington Hospital. Local 188 will become Local 19.1
- The Board approved the merger of Local 273 – Saskatoon Veteran’s Home into Local 22 – Saskatoon Sherbrooke Community Centre. Local 273 will become Local 22.1
- The Board approved the merger of Local 307 – Saskatoon, Central Haven Special Care Home into Local 22 – Saskatoon, Sherbrooke Community Centre. Local 307 will become Local 22.2

October 17, 2018 - BOARD/SDC MEETING
- Donna Trainor, SUN’s Executive Director gave a report on the Political Environment
- Tracy Zambory, SUN President gave a report on SUN’s Member Engagement
- Amber Alecxe, SUN Director of Government Relations gave a report on Transformational Change and the 2018 Summit.
- Barb Abele and Melissa McGillivray Nurse Practice Officers gave a presentation on “What tools do SUN members have when there is Violence in the Workplace”
- Karen Loyns, Workplace Safety Specialist from the Saskatchewan Association for Safe Workplaces in Health presented the “Provincial Healthcare Violence Prevention Framework”. Karen walked members thru the work that was done and the On-line tools available for implementation of the Program and the Tools.

- Local 126 – Saskatoon Jubilee Residences, with increase of quorum to 3 members
- Local 141 – Saskatoon Home Care
- Local 305 - Saskatoon Community Health Services
- Local 268 – Regina, Wascana Rehabilitation Center
FINANCIAL DECISIONS:
- The Board approved a donation to the Broadbent Institute for $5000 towards their 2019 election strategy for work towards advancing significantly progressive policies in Canada and to clearly demonstrate that there are social democratic solutions to the social and economic issues that divide out country.
- The Board approved a donation of $500 for Christmas support for the UFCW members on strike in Saskatoon.
- The Board approved a donation of $500 to the Striking Workers in Saskatoon UFCW COOP
- The Board approved the donation of $500 to each of the Women’s Marches on Jan 19/19 in Regina and Saskatoon.
